Architectural Tour

Sri Lanka is home to architectural wonders inspired by many great nations. Whether you take a stroll through the streets of Colombo or visit a country home in the far south of the island, you will be amazed and inspired.

Day 1

Colombo – Pinnawala – Kandalama

Your personal Chauffeur/ Guide from the hotel will pick you up and you will make your way to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The orphanage is home to hundreds of elephants who are protected and nurtured within the premises. You will get a chance to interact and feed these majestic creatures during your time there. You will then continue your journey to the Rock Cave Temple of Dambulla, which is adorned with beautiful frescoes that are over 2,00 years old. You will then travel to the beautiful Kandalama hotel for the night.

Day 2


After your morning meal, you will head to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This amazing UNESCO Heritage Site is a treat for anyone who visits it. It consists of colorful frescoes and elements of ancient architecture that all tower above the shrub forest that surrounds it. After conquering the Lion’s Rock, you will have the unique opportunity to tour the Sigiriya Village. You can then wrap up your day by treating your mind and body to a herbal massage or an Ayuruvedic treatment and continue your stay at the Kandalama hotel.

Day 3

Kandalama – Kandy

The third day of the tour will take you to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka. The journey to Kandy is quite long and tiring which would be best followed by a leisurely evening. Towards the end of the day you will be entertained by a wonderful Kandyan cultural dance show that will let you experience a different aspect of Sri Lanka. You will get to unwind for the night either at the Kandy House, Theva Residencies or the Stone House.

Day 4


Day 4 will be dedicated to seek out the wonders of Kandy. The main attraction of the city is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the bordering Kandy Lake. The temple also houses a museum that features a spectrum of awe inspiring exhibits, most which are gifts donated by several presidents and Buddhist leaders from far corners of the world.
After immersing yourself in the serenity of the sacred temple you will be lead to spend some time amidst nature at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Kandy. These gardens are home to a wonderful assortment of flora, some of which are endemic to Sri Lanka.
You will then drive towards the outskirts of Kandy to witness the beautiful Degal Doruwa Raja Maha Vihara cave temple. Murals depicting scenes from the Jataka line the interiors of the cave, giving it a unique identity. Your night will be spent either at the Kandy House, Theva Residencies or Stone House.

Day 5


You will travel to the commercial and financial capital of Sri Lanka to get a whole new experience. This vibrant city bordered by the ocean is studded with colonial architecture, modern restaurants, entertainment centers, museums, galleries and bustling markets.
The Geoffery Bawa Museum experience will allow you to truly understand the life of the legend followed by a visit to his home, number 11, Bawa’s Residence, the place of inspiration for all of his great work where you can get an insight into the life of the great maestro.
To end the day, we can organize either a city tour, shopping expedition, city walk into Fort and Pettah, tuk tuk tour exploring the city’s religious monuments, or a visit to the National Museum.
You will have the luxury of staying overnight at Tintagel, one of the most prestigious boutique hotels in the city that served as a home to one of Sri Lanka’s most powerful families. This was also the home of the first female prime minister and the world’s first female president, giving the place an air of royalty even today.

Day 6

Colombo – Ahungalle

After breakfast, you will set out to experience yet another masterpiece of Geoffrey Bawa’s – Heritance Ahungalle. This is one of the most relaxing hotels in the region with direct access to the beach, amazing accommodation, great food and an infinity pool, all designed by the great artist Geoffrey Bawa. You can pamper yourself to your hearts content while at the hotel, which will be your home for the night. Additionally, you will visit the Lunuganga Villa on your way to the hotel.

Day 7

Ahungalle – Galle

Followed by breakfast at Ahungallae, you will travel to Galle, a mesmerizing city in the south of Sri Lanka. This city is not only home to golden beaches, but also to timeless architecture inspired by Portuguese, Dutch and the English who ruled the region during the colonial era. The Galle fort area is unlike any other. The ramparts overlook the city while the village built around it transports you to a world of dreams and nostalgia. The fort is also a great place to discover some great Sri Lanka items including jewelry, clothes etc. A day spent in Galle will make you want to live the rest of your life there.

You will spend the night at Jetwing Light House which is yet another creation of the great Geoffrey Bawa. The rooms are designed to suit the needs of the modern traveler while staying true to the sense of great glass and sophistication.

Day 8

Galle – Tangalle

You will leave Galle, head towards Tangalle, and spend the rest of the day in leisure. Your night will be spent at Claughton Villa.

Day 9

Galle – Tangalle

On your second day in Tangalle, you will drive to the Last House and enjoy a relaxing night there.

Day 10

Tangalle – Colombo

You will drive back to Colombo for your flight back home and witness one of Geoffrey Bawa’s most significant creations – the Parliament building, on your way over. The architecture of the building represents its vitality to the nation as a strong and timeless creation.
